First pictures of the all new Lexus LC 500! 5.0 litre V8, 467 bhp and a world's first 10-speed automatic transmission!

Finally, the wraps come off and isn't she a beauty! Ladies and Gentlemen, four years after the Lexus LF-LC first appeared in January 2012, the new Lexus LC 500 is here!

All Lexus is glad to share with you the first pictures from the launch:

President of the Toyota Motor Corporation and Chief Branding Officer of Lexus International, Akio Toyoda, just lifted the covers off the all-new Lexus LC 500 at the Detroit Auto Show at 12:45pm EST!

Toyoda-san began by reminding attendees that he had met journalists at Pebble Beach in 2011, who shared with the Lexus supremo their thoughts on where the Lexus brand was heading. Toyoda-san produced a sheet of paper with some of the comments he took to heart:

Running them off one by one, Toyoda-san said, "Number 1, Lexus cars are well-made but boring to drive. Here's another, Lexus should clearly define their brand. And finally, Lexus is at (the) crossroads."

He thanked the media for the feedback, assuring the press corps that it would be his mission to ensure the words 'boring' and 'Lexus' would never again be uttered in the same sentence. Indeed, the combined passion of Lexus engineers and designers produced the jaw-droppingly mesmerising Lexus LC 500.

As the press fired off photo shots, Toyoda-san signalled to begin the Lexus LC 500 presentation video, which you'll see here:

The all-new Lexus LC 500 will be powered by a 5.0-litre V8, producing 467 bhp and mated to the world's first 10-speed automatic transmission.

The Lexus LC 500 represents the most dynamically-coherent Lexus since the LFA and in Toyoda-san's own words, "is what the more emotional Lexus looks to me." I think we can safely agree it is the most beautiful car in the world at the moment, period, Lexus or not.

Inside, we can see they've taken the dashboard of the Lexus LFA to a new design language. It retains the LFA's instrument binnacle-mounted controls, which allows the driver to switch between various driving modes. And it has the LFA's swivelling dials, which indicate the driving mode you're in. It certainly seems in designing this powerful vehicle, they have not forgotten creature comforts: there is the latest-generation Lexus infotainment system, displayed against a 12.3" screen. But what's really nice is that amidst the sea of TFT displays, and swivelling LFA-style dials, they have retained the analogue Lexus clock! What a display of class!

And just as we reported earlier, the 2+2 seater grand coupe is strictly for adults and, at most, 2 children at the back. Leather stretches to almost every conceivable surface of the car, from the seats, to the door cars, and from the roof lining to the dashboard.

Pricing hasn't been mentioned yet. When will it arrive in the showroom? Toyoda-san indicated the likes of us can only clap eyes on it next year. As more details arrive, we'll be the first to inform you.

As a cute sign off, Toyoda-san reiterated his love for the Lexus brand. He said, "Toyoda may be my last name, but Lexus is my middle name." At that moment, he had the press twirled around his little finger. :-D
